There are 3 main topics to be found on this website. A section with stories that I wrote, a section on autobiographical work by my grandmother, and a section on my research and dissertation.

Every now and then I like to write about experiences, and if possible, I would like to capture an emotion or feeling, or I like to capture the weirdness which is everywhere around us, in our mundane and everyday life.
In the stories section these writings have been collected.
dissertation
I work in Artificial Intelligence. My dissertation was on the topic of emotion and how it can be simulated in artificial agents.
As you might imagine this has been a multidisciplinary endeavour, requiring investigation into psychology (what is emotion), how can it be modelled, and how can it be used in to simulate emotion. The goal of this work is to provide a framework for creating believable and socially able artificial interaction partners. And that is quite cool actually.
grandma
My grandmother wrote three autobiographical memoirs. It is a nice view port into a completely different world from not long ago.
Note that the books are written in one of my native languages, the Frisian language.
